Silver plated

Kenyan bracelets start with a brass base and then are overplated with three layers of silver. The Mexican bracelets are 99% pure silver plated and have paua shell detail. Paua shell is known in the US and Australia as abalone, and in the UK as ormer shells. It comes from a family of sea snails of the genus Haliotis, primarily harvested to eat, like oysters, and then the inside of their shell is used for jewellery. The shell is found along coastal waters of every continent, with a few exceptions, and prefers cold water. Maoris traditionally believe it will bring connectivity and harmony to relationships and the shifting light reflected in the surface is a symbol of change and transition. We all love positive change – it’s the way forward.
